Eligibility
The CARE Upward Bound Program assists first-generation, low-income students to achieve their goal of college attendance. To be eligible for the program, a student must:
- Aspire to earn a bachelor's degree and demonstrate academic need
- Have a need for academic support
- Commit to attending a 6-week summer residential component
- Commit three afternoons per week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 2:40PM to 5:15PM for tutoring and counseling sessions
- Commit one Saturday each month to a group session/cultural activity generally held in Tallahassee
- Have a parent or legal guardian that is committed to supporting the goals of the program
- Meet the US Department of Education's Income Guidelines
- Must submit IRS Form 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ
- Be a first generation (neither parent holds a bachelor's degree)
- Be a citizen of the U.S. or a permanent resident
- Attend Gadsden County High School (or a student who will be graduating the 8th grade from a designated feeder school)
