Utilizing Tutoring and Lab
The CARE Tutoring & Computer Lab provides encouragement and support that will enhance each students' academic success. The Lab provides academic support in small groups and individualized sessions. The staff are prepared to assist students in developing effective study skills, review materials to explore learning styles, develop self confidence in course work and reduce feelings of fear and failure.
STudy Rooms
The Thagard Building offers individual and small group study rooms for students. Some rooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards with internet connectivity. Rooms can be booked via Campus Connect or in-person at Thagard.
Tutoring
Students can utilize free tutors via our department based tutors or tutors through our Knack Partnership. The tutors are other undergraduate students trained in peer support and who have earned at least a B+ in the courses they support.
Resources
Within the Thagard Building, students have access to academic support resources to include computer lab on 1st and 2nd floors, free printing, and a textbook library on the first floor. Students also have open study space tables.
Department Based Tutoring
CARE provides tutoring support for a number of academic courses at 1000 and 2000 level. On occasion support may be available for 3000 and 4000 level courses. Our department based tutoring is in-person only and may be small group or individual.
The schedule for Fall 2024 will be made available after the first week of classes.
Tutoring via KNACK
CARE is excited to collaborate with Knack to expand our tutoring program to CARE students. Knack Tutors are your FSU peers, affiliated and not affiliated with the CARE Department, who have excelled in the courses they are approved to tutor, ensuring high-quality support.
Tutoring is free for students who are enrolled in eligible courses, with flexible options for online sessions available before, during, and after traditional office hours. The Knack platform allows CARE students to schedule one-on-one and group tutoring services.
