What is the College Reach-Out Program?
Since 1992, The Florida State University has implemented the College Reach-Out Program (CROP) as part of a state-wide initiative funded by the Florida Department of Education.
At FSU, CROP is administered by the Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement, and serves the following schools in Leon, Gadsden, and Wakulla counties:
Havana Middle School
East Gadsden High School
West Gadsden High School
Wakulla High School
Lincoln High School
The College Reach-Out Program is an educational and motivational program that is designed to help students prepare for a successful college education. Participants in CROP must be students in grades 6-12 who meet certain educational and economic criteria as set forth by the State of Florida. There are two categories and potential students must meet at least 1 criteria in each category. Students must be enrolled at one the targeted schools to be eligible to apply.

CROP University Experience Program (UEP)
The University Experience Program (UEP) is a summer residential program that exposes high school students to college life. During the summer residential program, students are:
- Housed in a residence hall
- Introduced to the realities of campus life
- Attend workshops on the following:
- College Admissions Process
- Financial Aid & Debt Management
- Resume Writing
- Choosing a College & Major
- Career Decision Making
- Preparing Yourself Academically for College
- College Survival Skills
- Take tours of Florida State University, Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University, & Tallahassee Community College
- Sit in on at least one college class
- Take tours of museums and cultural sites
- Learn standardized test-taking strategies
Other activities hosted during the summer program in the past have included:
- Etiquette Workshop
- Community Service Project
- Talent Show & Fashion Extravaganza
- Greek Life Step Show
- UEP Picnic
CARE staff and FSU upperclassmen serve as advisors and mentors to the students during the program. Rising high school juniors and seniors will have the opportunity to learn more about higher education by spending this time at Florida State University.

Only rising juniors & seniors who participate in the College Reach-Out Program with the following institutions may participate in UEP:
What will it cost?
- All program fees, including room, board, and materials, are provided by the program.
- You will need to provide your own transportation to and from Tallahassee.
