    The New Class…
    Of the 351 accepted participants in the 2009 Summer Bridge Program, 82% are first generation college students; 62% are from single parent households; and 97% of the participants were Pell eligible.

    http://staging.care.fsu.edu/img/residency.pngOur 2009 students represent all regions within the State of Florida. 57% are from South Florida; 26% are from Central Florida; and 17% are from North Florida.

    The 2009 participants bring the following to academic credentials:

    • 3.3 average high school GPA
    • 1485 average SAT score (Critical Reading plus Math)
    • 21 average ACT score 

    76% of the 2009 class had a 3.0 High School GPA or higher and 30% had a 3.5 GPA or higher.

    64% of the W.E.B. Du Bois National Honor Society inductees for 2009 are CARE students.

    The Legacy They Join…
    There are currently 38 C.A.R.E. students enrolled in the Honors Program at Florida State University.

    Mr. Garrett Johnson (C.A.R.E. 02), was recognized as a national Rhodes Scholar in 2006.

    49 C.A.R.E. students are currently enrolled at FSU pursuing a Masters Degree or a Professional Graduate program.  In the past two years, 43 C.A.R.E. students have completed a degree beyond a Baccalaureate. 

    Two C.A.R.E. students completed the Degree-in-three program thus far.

    Florida State University is a national leader in the graduation rate of African-American undergraduates.
