RESOURCE DESCRIPTION
Academic Center for Excellence CARE students and all undergraduate students are invited to use the ACE Learning Studio at Johnston Ground (WJB 051). This space features study rooms, tutoring in a wide array of subjects, technology (i.e., computers, laptops, and iPads), and individual consultations with a learning specialist. Additionally, ACE offers workshops on time management, study skills, graduate school planning, and graduate/professional school entrance test preparation.
Academic Honor Policy Provides policy information and rationale for FSU's Academic Honor Code. Use this site to review your responsibilities as an FSU student.
Academic Program Guide A list of the program descriptions and requirements for each major.
Adult Learning Evaluation Center (ALEC) ALEC provides low cost psycho-educational evaluations for college students and other adults who may be experiencing academic difficulties due to a possible Learning Disability or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Academic coaching also is offered for a fee.

Advising Centers

Advising First: The Advising First program has approximately 40 professional academic advisors throughout the University's many academic units to assist undergraduate students with a variety of academic and non-academic issues.

Center for Exploratory Students: Assists students who find it difficult to decide on a major. If this sounds like you, talk to the staff to start on the road to choosing a major that's right for you.

Advisor Search by Department Not sure who your academic advisor is? Use this search engine to find out. You should meet with your advisor each semester.
Career Center The FSU Career Center offers a variety of workshops, services, classes, and resources to prepare Seminoles to become ProfessioNOLES! CARE students can connect with drop-in career advising, career fairs, information about internships, mock interviews, on-campus interviews, career development coursework, and individual career counseling. Students can also learn how to develop their Career Portfolio and locate information about part-time jobs.
Center for Leadership and Social Change The Center engages FSU students, staff and faculty in leadership and community-based learning through service. A great site to learn about opportunities to get involved in issues and programs relating to FSU and Tallahassee.
Center for Undergraduate Research and Academic Engagement CARE connects students to the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) and Global Scholars opportunities through the Center for Undergraduate Research and Academic Engagement. This department promotes and supports the engagement of FSU undergraduates in research and creative projects with the supervision or collaboration of FSU faculty.
Dean of Students Provides support to FSU students through programs like First Year Experience, Greek Life, Student Rights and Responsibilities, Withdrawals, Victim Advocate Program, Student Disability Resource Center, and Orientation.
Financial Aid The central office for learning about and applying for financial assistance at FSU. The site also contains a timeline of key dates.
Freshman Interest Groups (FIGs) An innovative way to register for a cluster of similarly-themed courses and learn about the university and student responsibilities from an upper-class FIG leader. Only offered in the Fall semester to incoming freshmen.
Garnet and Gold Honor Society Facilitates involvement and recognizes the engaged, well-rounded student who excels within and beyond the classroom in the areas of 1) Leadership, 2) Internship, 3) Service, 4) International, and 5) Research. A student who has met the criteria in three of the five areas and writes an approved Synthesis Reflection is eligible for consideration. CARE students have widely taken advantage of the Garnet & Gold Scholar Society, exemplifying expertise in each of the areas outlined. Students are encouraged to take advantage of this prestigious opportunity.

The Graduate School

Professional Development Series

A central resource for current or prospective graduate students at FSU.

The Graduate School will conduct a series of professional development workshops. These free workshops, led by FSU faculty and administrators, are designed for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.

Honor Societies A central hub for a variety of honor societies active at FSU.
Honors Program FSU has a long history of providing recognition and support for outstanding students through its honors programs. CARE students are encouraged to enroll in the FSU Honors Program. CARE students have two opportunities to be enrolled in Honors: the University Honors Program and the Honors in the Major Program .
Human Services Center The center offers affordable outpatient mental health services while providing experience for graduate students in the Specialist Program in Mental Health Counseling.
It's All Academic Online version of the Orientation booklet that details liberal studies, graduation requirements, and academic policies. It also includes some useful appendices on acceleration credit (AP, IB, Dual Enrollment, and CLEP).
International Programs CARE encourages students to highlight their educational experiences through studying abroad. Consistently ranked in the top 15 of US study abroad programs. As a student of IP, you will be able to take classes that meet your major and/or minor requirements, study with experts in their field, and earn FSU credit. FSU has over 50 years of experience in international education, and offers over 50 diverse programs in 20 different locations around the world. Students can study during any semester of their academic career. In each host country, FSU International Programs has forged solid academic affiliations while serving excellent learning facilities and living accommodations.

Living Learning Communities FSU has seven Living Learning Communities, which are residence halls that involve an academic component. Each program has a faculty director, and students take one or more courses together – sometimes right in the residence hall.

Office of Distance Learning-Assessment and Testing Exams Find information on and registration for tests like CLEP and FTCE.
Office of National Fellowships CARE has a rich tradition of students being recognized for national and international fellowship opportunities. From a Rhodes Scholar to Gilman International Scholars, CARE has seen many students achieve these great recognitions. Through one-on-one mentoring and direct assistance for over 60 nationally competitive fellowships, the Office of National Fellowships helps students to identify and achieve their academic, public service, creative, and leadership goals.
Office of Undergraduate Studies Office that supervises freshman and sophomore academic progress including transfer credit, course drops and withdrawals, and issues requiring approval by the academic dean. It also houses the academic records of all basic division students.
Reading Writing Center CARE students have the opportunity to have free one-on-one reading and writing tutorials through the FSU Reading/Writing Center. RWC staff provides feedback that will help students develop as readers and writers of all texts. Not simply a proofreading/editing service, instead, the RWC offers guidance, feedback, and encouragement to help students understand what options, strategies, and techniques are available to you at every step of the writing process. SDS 3340: Introduction to Career Planning SDS 3340, Introduction to Career Development, provides students with an opportunity to learn and develop the necessary skills to engage in life/career planning. It is a variable credit course and can be taken for one, two, or three credit hours.
Student Disability Resource Center (SDRC) The Student Disability Resource Center (SDRC) serves as an advocate for FSU students with disabilities and ensure that reasonable accommodations are provided. As a primary advocate for students with disabilities, the SDRC works with faculty and staff to provide accommodations for the unique needs of students both in and out of the classroom. By providing support services at no cost to students with disabilities, the Student Disability Resource Center offers an opportunity for students to achieve their academic and personal goals.

Testing for Learning Disabilities CARE assists students with testing for learning disabilities to ensure students have the greatest potential for success. Through the Adult Learning Evaluation Center (ALEC) administered by the FSU Department of Educational Psychology and Learning Systems, students have the opportunity for low cost evaluations for possible Learning Disability or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
University Counseling Center Provides individual counseling, support groups, and educational workshops. All currently registered students are eligible for free services.
University Health Services Use this site to learn more about the health center, the mandatory health insurance policy, or health insurance plans at FSU.
University Registrar Provides a wide range of academic policies and information such as the Fall, Spring, and Summer academic calendars, registration windows, and exam schedules.
Victim Advocate Program The Victim Advocate Program is available twenty-four hours a day to respond to FSU students or others who are victims of a crime. Services include emotional support, instructor notification, referrals, and educational programming.
Withdrawal Office Provides information and procedures for withdrawing from FSU.
