Mr. Starke serves as the Director for the Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement (CARE). He is responsible for the effective management and implementation of both pre-collegiate and post-secondary programming within the Center. Committed to student success and engagement, Mr. Starke currently advised the W.E.B. DuBois Honor Society, the Take Stock in Children Student Alumni Alliance, and the Gates Millennium Scholars.
Prior to his position within CARE, Mr. Starke served as Director/Program Administrator of the Tallahassee Community College Take Stock in Children and College Reach-Out Program. There he was responsible for college preparation and post-secondary success of over 600 students in the Tallahassee region. Dedicated to serving economically and educationally disadvantaged populations, Mr. Starke has also served as an Adjunct Professor, Tutor/Academic Coordinator, Academic Advisor, Financial Aid Advisor, and a Pre-Collegiate Program Consultant at Florida A&M University. Outside of higher education, Mr. Starke worked as a Volunteer Coordinator & Recreation Leader for the Tallahassee Parks and Recreation Department, and as a Community Rehabilitation Specialist with the Jacksonville Housing Partnership.
Over his years of service, Mr. Starke has been a member of multiple professional affiliations. His current affiliations include the Association for Institutional Research, National Academic Advising Association (NACADA), the W.E.B. DuBois National Honor Society Expansion Committee, and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA).
Past affiliations included the Fostering Achievement Fellowship Leadership Team, the Florida Higher Education Alliance for Alcohol & Substance Abuse Prevention, Tallahassee Urban League Black on Black Crime Prevention Task Force, and the Tallahassee Community College Career Center Advisory Board.
